How this calculator works
For a 3-phase load, current is approximately I = P ÷ (√3 × V × PF × efficiency).
Example: 15 kW, 415 V, PF 0.85 and 90% efficiency gives about 27 A.
Practical guidance
This tool is designed for fast planning and learning. Enter realistic values and compare the result with nameplate data, local standards and engineering practice before making a final selection.
Frequently asked questions
Is this nameplate current?
No. It is an estimate. The actual motor nameplate current should be used for final protection and cable selection.
Can I use this for single phase?
Yes. Select 1 Phase and the calculator uses the single-phase power relationship.
